John Cena’s final year in wrestling is here, and one of his biggest rivals wants one last showdown. JBL, who played a huge role in Cena’s rise to superstardom, admitted on Something To Wrestle With that he’d love another match with the 16-time world champion before he calls it quits.

“Of course. Yeah, because I think the world of John and I was so happy that I was part of John’s formative career. I, again, I don’t take any credit for anything. John did. John would be exactly where he is now with or without me. I’m just glad that I was one of the ones that was there at the start,” JBL said.

Cena’s first world title victory came at WrestleMania 21, where he defeated JBL for the WWE Championship. The two went on to have multiple battles over the years, cementing their rivalry as one of the most memorable of the Ruthless Aggression Era.

JBL had nothing but praise for Cena, calling him “such a great guy” and applauding everything he’s done for wrestling, fans, and Make-A-Wish. But despite his desire for one more match, he made it clear that it’s just wishful thinking. “It’s not going to happen, by the way. There’s absolutely zero talk of it.”
