JBL is heading back to WWE, and he couldn’t be more excited. The WWE Hall of Famer has been announced for the January 20, 2025, episode of Raw on Netflix, marking a major homecoming for the longtime superstar and commentator.
After bouncing around promotions like TNA and GCW in recent months, JBL is now set to return to the company where he built his legacy. While speaking on the Something to Wrestle podcast, he revealed how the call came together and hinted at what he might be doing when he steps back into a WWE arena.
“I’m excited. They gave me a call and I said, ‘Hey, I’m thrilled to be coming in,'” JBL shared. “Pat McAfee is out for the national championship game. So I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing. I kind of got an idea a little bit from Creative, and it sounds all fun.”
JBL also made it clear that one of his biggest hopes for the night is reuniting with longtime broadcast partner Michael Cole. “I’m excited to go back, and I hope I get to work with Michael Cole. I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing, but I hope I get to work with Michael.”
For JBL, the return isn’t just about what he’ll be doing—it’s about stepping back into a locker room that still treats legends with respect.
“When you’re gone for a while, you just kind of enjoy being back in the arena. Seeing the guys that you know, seeing the new guys. They treat you unbelievably well. It’s amazing how well. A lot of people sent out those notes that we got at Christmas, ‘Thank you for being a legend and building this business.’ They just do cool things. The way they handle legends is just fantastic.”
With JBL’s role still under wraps, fans are left wondering—will he be back behind the announce desk, or does WWE have something else in store for him?
