Corey Graves’ move to NXT commentary has been a hot topic ever since he aired his frustrations on Twitter, and while some speculated it was part of a storyline, the latest update suggests otherwise. Despite being placed on WWE’s developmental brand, Graves might not be stuck there for long.

During a recent Fightful Select Q&A Podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked whether Graves was permanently assigned to NXT and if there was simply no room for him on Raw or SmackDown. Sapp revealed that while the situation is still unfolding, a WWE source believes Graves will be back on the main roster at some point.

“I was told that the move is where things landed as of now, but one person in WWE said that considering the revolving door of announcers and color commentators, they expect him back on Raw or SmackDown this year,” Sapp reported.

WWE has yet to make an official statement on the long-term plans for Graves, but given the company’s history of reshuffling commentary teams, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s back behind the desk for Raw or SmackDown before the year is over.

Corey Graves might be calling NXT for now, but if WWE’s track record with commentary shuffles tells us anything, it’s that nothing is permanent. With sources already expecting him back on Raw or SmackDown this year, it’s only a matter of time before he’s back on the big stage. Until then, Graves’ on-air demeanor will tell the real story—because if there’s one thing he doesn’t do, it’s hide his feelings.
