The Young Bucks are on their way back to AEW after being off television for weeks.

Fightful Select reports that Matt and Nick Jackson are expected to be backstage at Thursday’s tapings, marking their first appearance since being written off TV. While it’s unclear if they will appear on the show, their presence alone has many speculating about what’s next for the former AEW Tag Team Champions.

Matt and Nick have been away from AEW programming since dropping the tag titles to Private Party on the October 30 episode of Dynamite. Their departure was part of a storyline exit, with no immediate creative plans laid out for their return. However, with AEW making some big moves in 2024, now could be the perfect time for them to step back into the spotlight.

Following their hiatus, The Young Bucks spoke about the ever-changing plans for their last title reign. The duo originally expected to drop the gold months earlier, but creative shifts kept delaying the move. “Creative changed, I would say, four to five different times in the last six months,” they admitted on Social Suplex Podcast Network. “At one point, we were going to lose the belts to a certain team, and then a month later, it changed to another team.”

Ultimately, they lost to Private Party, a team they initially didn’t expect to feud with, but the shift proved to be the right call. “As soon as we got backstage, we knew. It’s in Tony’s eyes. He was like, ‘I think we have something,’” Matt Jackson recalled. That last-minute change not only benefited Private Party but allowed The Young Bucks to step away from AEW, possibly setting up something even bigger upon their return.

With AEW’s tag division constantly evolving and major events on the horizon, the timing of their comeback couldn’t be more interesting. Will they reclaim their spot at the top, or will they have to fight their way back?

Do you think The Young Bucks will make an on-screen return this week, or is AEW saving them for a bigger moment? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
