Matt Cardona still doesn’t know who he’s stepping into the ring with at The People vs. GCW, but if it were up to him, he’d be squaring off against none other than John Cena.

On The Ariel Helwani Show, Cardona opened up about the uncertainty surrounding his open challenge match, revealing that multiple planned opponents have fallen through for various reasons. While he has no clue who he’ll actually be facing, he threw out a dream opponent just for fun.

“I legitimately do not know [who I’m facing]. I want John Cena [laughs]. I don’t know who it’s gonna be. All I know is that I have spent money on my entrance. Shoot, I’m not bullshitting you. I do not know. I think I’ll find out that day. We don’t know. There’s been so many people put in that spot. For one reason or another, they’ve gotten taken out of that spot. Let’s see who it is.”

Cardona also revealed that Ricky Starks was originally lined up for the match but was later pulled. While he didn’t go into detail, he acknowledged reading the rumors about Starks’ situation and confirmed he’s officially out.
