WWE Hall of Famer RVD still keeps up with the current WWE product and he certainly watched the January 6 Raw on Netflix, which featured Travis Scott making an appearance and smoking a joint while accompanying Jey Uso. Unsurprisingly, RVD has now reacted to Travis Scott’s shocking actions.
While speaking about the moment on his 1 Of A Kind podcast, RVD stated that it shows how times have changed, noting how he was once punished for having marijuana, which cost him his world titles.
While it may seem unfair looking back, RVD sees this as progress. He said it’s great that in 2025 someone like Travis Scott can openly smoke on Raw, calling it a sign of more freedom and changing attitudes.
“[Laughs] No, but I certainly heard about it a lot. Somebody said RVD crawled so Travis Scott could run. I think that’s cool. A lot of people think that’s f***** up, that I got suspended and had to drop both world championship titles just for having possession in my car and being charged with that, having a pending charge. Boom, resulted in that severe punishment. A lot of people think that doesn’t seem very fair, and then here’s Travis smoking on-camera, so you’ve gotta realize that’s good. That’s good, we’re moving in the right direction, and that’s how laws change. To me, marijuana prohibition sounds ridiculous, so now we’re moving to where we have more freedom, more rights, and that was a great way to reflect it. That’s awesome that in 2025 that Travis Scott was smoking a blunt on Monday Night Raw. I think that’s super cool.”
While this shocked many backstage in WWE, Travis Scott didn’t get any heat for smoking a joint. Travis Scott’s surprise appearance on WWE Raw has caught a lot of attention, showing his growing involvement in wrestling. While it’s not clear if he will, RVD’s support shows that WWE fans are welcoming him in a big way.
