WWE had a lot of things in store for fans with their January 14 episode of NXT. That included hearing from their new champion for the first time.

Oba Femi cemented his place on top of NXT as he beat Trick Williams for the NXT Title during New Year’s Evil 2025. He was in rare form as the champion made his first statement clear during this week’s NXT.

The new NXT Champion kicked off the show this week, and he received quite an ovation from fans in the NXT Arena. Oba Femi was very happy to announce that he has arrived, and it is time for him to take his throne. After all, he never doubted himself for a second.

Fans gave Oba Femi a brief “you deserve it” chant before he turned his attention to Eddy Thorpe, as he called him a cockroach. Then The NXT North American Champion, Tony D’Angelo came out. D’Angelo and Femi know each other well, as Tony D was the man who beat Oba for the title in Saint Louis.

Tony D’Angelo made it clear that he has one win over Oba Femi, and he will win the NXT Title whenever he decides to challenge him for it. Then Ridge Holland came out to throw his name in the situation, but Tony D didn’t wait to attack him. Security tried to break them up as Oba Femi stayed in the ring. Suddenly, Eddy Thorpe jumped in the ring and blindsided the champion.

Eddy Thorpe had a strap with him, and he beat Oba Femi down before posing with the NXT Title. That was quite a way for Oba to kick off his time as champion.
