WWE aired a special episode of NXT on January 7 for New Year’s Evil as they kicked off 2025. With even more focus on the company, thanks to WWE RAW’s outstanding Netflix debut, Shawn Michaels was ready to set the tone for the new year for the company’s developmental brand.

A #1 Contender’s match went down this week on NXT, as four women battled for a shot at the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Cora Jade, Stephanie Vaquer, Lola Vice, and Kelani Jordan all wanted a shot at the gold. Jordan wanted to regain the championship that she lost at Halloween Havoc to Fallon Henley.

These women fought hard to get a shot at Fallon Henley’s title. Each of them had fans behind them, but Cora Jade certainly had some very loud supporters in the LA crowd.

Kelani Jordan wiped out Lola Vice with a high risk move, only to have Cora Jade take her out with a dive of her own. Then they cut to commercial break as the match carried on in picture-in-picture.

In the end, the finish came after Stephanie Vaquer nailed her finisher on Kelani Jordan. The former NXT Women’s North American Champion actually crashed and burned off a top rope splash before taking that devastating move.

Now Stephanie Vaquer will take on Fallon Henley with the title on the line. Only time will tell how that turns out for everyone involved.

What’s your take on the NXT Women’s Title picture? Are you excited to see that championship match?
