AEW had a lot of eye on them as they rolled into 2025, and the January 1 episode was a packed show. A new theme song debuted tonight, and now they have started their time on MAX. That also came with a big announcement.
“The Last Outlaw” Jeff Jarrett made an announcement about his future during this week’s AEW Dynamite. This was a big episode of AEW Dynamite, as it also served as their yearly Fight For The Fallen show.
Fans in Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina were ready to hear what Double J had to say, In the end, the WWE Hall of Famer showed up in a backstage segment, where they teased a big announcement. Karen Jarrett was even there, and she spoke about how hard this decision was for Jarrett, but they are “unbreakable.”
They had a guitar set up in the ring on a stand as Jeff Jarrett made his way to the ring. He had a serious look on his face as he grabbed the microphone and took center stage.
After he wished AEW fans in North Carolina “slappy new year,” Jarrett said that he has a ton of things to be grateful for throughout his career. He got some Double J chants from the fans, and then he started talking about thinking of the end of his career.
After Jeff Jarrett gave a rundown of his time in the pro wrestling industry, including launching TNA Wrestling without naming the company, he got down to the real point of his promo. He picked up his red pro wrestling boots, and fans chanted “No!”
Jeff Jarrett said that as a 12-time World Champion and two-time Hall of Famer, should he just ride off into the sunset. Then he said “the answer is hell no, because the thought that keeps going through my mind is when you take the biggest risk of your life you take the biggest reward.”
He then revealed that he signed his final pro wrestling contract as an active talent. He wants to go out in a big way, because he wants to capture gold once again. He isn’t looking for a trios title, either.
Double J wants to shoot for the top of the roster, and that will include his entry into the Casino Gauntlet match next week. He said his New Year’s Resolution is to become AEW World Champion.
