AEW Worlds End came to fans live from Orlando’s Addition Financial Arena, and fans were very interested to see how the company wrapped up 2024. That included Adam Cole and MJF finally having their moment in the spotlight.
The Dynamite Diamond Ring was on the line as MJF took on Adam Cole. That collision was a long time coming, as Cole has chased a match against the Salt of the Earth for some time now.
This match was the fourth of the night, right after Mariah May retained the AEW Women’s World Title in a brutal Tijuana Street Fight over Thunder Rosa. MJF had a big time heel reaction from the fans, and Adam Cole received a thunderous response when he made his entrance.
It didn’t take long into this match until Adam Cole took a face bump off the steel ring steps, and he was busted open. MJF also screamed at the crowd to “shut the f*ck up!”
This match continued and fans were really into each move. There were also a ton of near falls along the way, because the Dynamite Diamond Ring wasn’t the only thing on the line in this match. After all, the two had a lot of history with each other.
MJF was busted open later on in the match as well after he took a headshot into the ring post. That only heightened the drama in this contest, and the fans in Orlando were all about it. Cole then landed a Boom Knee, but only got another near fall out of it.
MJF created a diversion when he got Matt Taven and Mike Bennett thrown out of ringside. He got the Dynamite Diamond from its pedestal, but he walked into a Superkick from Cole when he got back in the ring. Then MJF nailed a low blow, and he hit a Heatseeker to pull off the win. This ensures that MJF will carry the Dynamite Diamond ring for another ring, meaning he is still the only holder of the ring for six years running now. After the match was over, MJF tried to break Cole’s leg, but the Undisputed Kingdom ran him off.
It wasn’t too long ago when Adam Cole and MJF formed Better Than You Bay Bay, and they became best friends in 2023. They even won the ROH World Tag Team Championships, but the two never lost the titles as a pair. Adam Cole was injured, and then MJF became the target of a masked figure resembling his past “devil” persona. After Cole’s in-ring hiatus started, MJF lost the tag titles and later the AEW World Championship at Worlds End 2023. That was the same night that Adam Cole revealed himself as the Devil, and he turned heel with his Undisputed Kingdom stablemates.
MJF took time off due to injury after that, and he came back as a heel. Adam Cole shifted to a babyface role during his injury hiatus, and he returned to reignite their feud, but he failed to secure a match at Full Gear 2024. To finally get that match against MJF, the former NXT Champion co-won the AEW Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale, and then he defeated Kyle O’Reilly at AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming.
