Davey Boy Smith Jr., also known as Harry Smith, isn’t shutting the door on a potential run with AEW. The wrestling veteran has built a name for himself across promotions like MLW, AJPW, and CMLL and is currently making waves in AJPW, where he clinched the Triple Crown Championship on November 4. Despite his achievements, fans continue to speculate about Smith Jr.’s future, particularly the possibility of him joining AEW.

Speaking on Hannibal TV, Smith Jr. addressed the idea of reuniting with former tag partner Lance Archer under AEW’s banner. He clarified that while AEW hasn’t reached out, he’s open to the idea if the timing and circumstances align. “I certainly don’t have any problem or issue with doing anything with AEW,” Smith Jr. said, adding that he respects the complexities of balancing commitments to different promotions.

Smith Jr. reflected on why he wasn’t part of major AEW events like the Wembley Stadium show, explaining that his commitments to MLW and the logistics of a potential one-off appearance may have been factors. “From AEW’s perspective, I totally understand. If they bring me in for one show, I guess I’m gonna have to go over, and then it’s just a one-shot deal,” he said. Smith Jr. also acknowledged MLW’s concerns, noting, “If I did lose on it, it’d be kind of what would MLW get positive out of it?”

While Smith Jr. remains open to the idea of working with AEW, he emphasized that his current focus is on his career with AJPW. “I think my life and quality of life and the way I’m progressing myself personally over here, I think that’s the best idea,” he explained. However, he didn’t rule out a future AEW appearance, particularly if it involved teaming up with Archer or participating in a tag team tournament.

“If AEW did have a tag team tournament, a yearly one, I could perhaps go there. Maybe when my All Japan deal is done, maybe I do go to AEW. I’m not against that at all, in any way, shape, or form,” Smith Jr. added.

Davey Boy Smith Jr. isn’t ruling anything out when it comes to AEW, and while he’s thriving in AJPW right now, the door to All Elite Wrestling isn’t fully closed. Whether it’s a reunion with Lance Archer or a one-off tag tournament appearance, fans will just have to wait and see what’s next for the wrestling veteran.
