AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May is set to face Thunder Rosa at Worlds End, but there’s one small hitch—she doesn’t actually know what a Tijana Street Fight entails. During an interview with Niko Exxtra, May seemingly confessed her uncertainty about the match’s unique stipulation, while still maintaining confidence in her ability to dominate.
“You tell me, ’cause I said name the time, name the place,” Mariah quipped when asked what the match type involves. When pressed further, she admitted, “Not really. But all I know is Thunder Rosa is pretty hard to kill, so I’m going to bring a lot in my arsenal. I’ve been trying to research this; I’ve been watching some tapes, trying to figure out how to best approach this match.”
Mariah noted that while she has some street fight experience, this match will take things to a whole new level. “I’ve had a street fight before in AEW. I beat Anna Jay on Collision in the main event. Prior to that, my only other street fight was a Barbie-themed Dreamhouse Death Match, where the rule was that the weapon had to be pink. If it wasn’t pink, you couldn’t use it.”
Thunder Rosa’s choice of a Tijana Street Fight appears to be a strategic move. “She’s probably been watching me very closely and realizes she probably couldn’t beat the woman I am today,” May said. “So she’s like, alright, let’s bring some weapons into it. Her dad is coming, apparently.”
Despite not knowing all the details about the match, Mariah’s confidence remains unshaken. She sees this as just another step in cementing her legacy, which she says involves “running through the division” and constantly seeking new competition.
