The introduction of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship has created speculation among WWE fans about who will become the inaugural champion. Natalya is currently one of the top favorites to win the title and it appears there are people in WWE who want her to become the champion as well.

According to WrestleVotes on a recent Backstage Pass Q&A, some backstage sources share the sentiment that Natalya would be a strong choice for the Women’s Intercontinental Title. While this doesn’t confirm she will win, it suggests there is favoritism towards her as a potential inaugural champion.

“We spoke last week on this show about how I’d like it to be Natalya. I did hear some feedback with some sentiments that were similar from sources that said they would like it to be Natalya as well. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be her but there is some favouritism maybe that would like to see her win the Intercontinental Championship.”

So far, Lyra Valkyria and Dakota Kai have secured their spots in the semi-finals. The remaining quarter-final matches include Natalya vs. Kairi Sane vs. Alba Fyre and Raquel Rodriguez vs. Zoey Stark vs. Kayden Carter.

WWE has yet to announce when the final of the Women’s Intercontinental Title tournament will take place, but Dave Meltzer suggested the finals could take place on the debut episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix next year.

Natalya has already pointed to her incredible Guinness World Records as a big reason why she should be the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Therefore, only time will tell whether The Queen of Harts will end up winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, as many feel that is simply the most logical choice.
