The Undertaker’s contributions to the pro wrestling world are truly second to none and one of the biggest things he has given to the business is undoubtedly his WrestleMania streak. In fact, the person responsible for making The Deadman’s streak part of storylines has been revealed.

The Undertaker’s legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania began in 1991 with a win over Jimmy Snuka. Over time, victories against major stars like Jake Roberts, Sid, and Ric Flair elevated The Streak’s significance, making it as important as the World Championship match at WrestleMania. It ultimately ended at WrestleMania 30 when Brock Lesnar beat The Phenom, a move that still doesn’t sit right with many.

While speaking on the Something to Wrestle With podcast, Bruce Prichard credited Michael Hayes for recognizing the potential of The Undertaker’s streak. Hayes noticed that Undertaker was undefeated at WrestleMania and consistently pushed for it to be highlighted. Eventually, this streak became a key storyline and a major part of WrestleMania history.

“The Streak kind of came up from Michael Hayes. You know Michael always had tidbits of information that Michael would kind of throw out [and] say, ‘Hey, you know The Undertaker’s undefeated at WrestleMania. Something we can do with that. There’s a story there.’ He would push that all the time until finally that streak had built up to being meaningful and hence The Streak.”

Even Jim Ross previously stated that The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak should have continued. Nevertheless, The Phenom’s WrestleMania streak will forever remain a crucial aspect of WWE history and that will forever be his legacy, something that will never change.
