The House of Black is undoubtedly one of the top factions in all of AEW right now and they have achieved some success in the company. With that said, it appears AEW scrapped a pitch to include another member to the faction.

While speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Bryan Keith shared his reaction to being included in Chris Jericho’s Learning Tree faction alongside Big Bill. He was surprised at the development, explaining that he had been considered for several other groups, none of which were the Learning Tree.

Keith, who was trained by Booker T and grew up during the Ruthless Aggression era of wrestling, stated that the opportunity to work with Jericho was a surreal and significant moment in his career.

”It was shocking, man. I remember hearing other groups that I would potentially be in, maybe four different groups, and none of them were Learning Tree. Whenever you let me know that I’m possibly gonna be with you guys, man, I remember just [laughs] dropping everything and being like, ‘What? That’s…’ Never in a million years. I was trained by Booker T. That is my era of wrestling, Ruthless Aggression era is stuff I grew up on, stuff I feel like is the best product that I watched, and you guys were the reason for that. I’m trained by Booker T, now working with you, so it’s a movie, man. My life is a movie.”

Keith also mentioned that among the groups he was considered for were Shane Taylor Promotions and possibly House of Black, though he wasn’t certain about all the options. He stated that being part of the Learning Tree was unexpected and a highlight of his career.

“I think one of them was potentially Shane Taylor Promotions. Another one was, I know they were throwing around maybe House of Black possibly, something like that, I don’t know for sure. Then I don’t remember what the other one was, I just remember it wasn’t you guys, that’s for sure [laughs].”

House of Black, consisting of Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Julia Hart, continues to be the highlight of AEW programming, especially after Matthews’ recent return. While Bryan Keith didn’t become a part of the House of Black, he appreciates his current position in AEW and that’s all that matters.
