Roman Reigns held WWE under siege for nearly four years and was the face of the company heading into the grand spectacle, WrestleMania 40. However, Cody Rhodes ended his historic Undisputed WWE Championship reign at the event.

Since then, Reigns’ future has been uncertain, with the expectation that he would be absent from WWE television programming. Moreover, speculation about his return has increased as WWE gears up for what promises to be its biggest event for the summer, WWE SummerSlam.

The rumors were further fueled last week when the Tribal Chief was spotted training with well-known friend. Moreover, Roman Reigns was also advertised initially for the final SmackDown before SummerSlam, adding to the anticipation.

However, WWE has apparently revised its plans for Reigns’ return. The global juggernaut, along with Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, recently released new promotional material on X for the August 2 SmackDown, and Roman Reigns is notably absent from the lineup.

Instead, superstars now advertised for the SummerSlam go-home edition of SmackDown were Cody Rhodes, Bayley, Randy Orton, LA Knight, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair.

While this could mean that Roman Reigns’ hiatus might extend beyond SummerSlam, it’s important to note that Reigns’ omission from the listing does not necessarily mean he won’t be back by then, so all WWE Universe can do at the moment is wait for The Head of the Table to resurface once again in grand fashion.
