In the bustling world of WWE during the 1990s, Vince McMahon stood as a towering figure, not just as the boss of the company, but as a dynamic star whose presence dominated the main-event scene. McMahon’s influence extended far beyond the ring, shaping the narrative of WWE itself.

Even amidst his myriad responsibilities, McMahon found time to forge connections with the stars backstage. In an exclusive interview with Ringside News’ Steve Fall, former WWE veteran Nunzio shed light on his own relationship with McMahon during their shared tenure in the company.

According to Nunzio, his rapport with the boss blossomed during their time together on Smackdown, culminating in joint appearances in the ring. Recalling memorable moments, Nunzio recounted instances where he had to intervene in matches, adding layers to their on-screen chemistry.

Reflecting on the financial landscape of WWE, Nunzio expressed admiration for the strides the company has made since his tenure.

“To tell you the truth, getting back to the money part, which is good, if you work there, you should make at least a decent amount,” Nunzio remarked. “They’re definitely doing better than I was, but I was happy at the time.”

Delving deeper into his interactions with McMahon, Nunzio reminisced about collaborative efforts in crafting matches and shared dinners, illustrating a camaraderie beyond the confines of the ring.

“I did have a bit of a relationship with Vince McMahon. It all started when we were doing programs with SmackDown. I was out there when it was Taker vs. McMahon in a pole match. McMahon was going up the pole to try to get the wood, and I came in—I think the other way around—Taker was going up and we were saving him. I worked in programs with Vince McMahon because he was in the same match, so we went over matches together—not just me and him, but me, him, Chuck, Johnny, and everybody involved. When I broke into the cruiserweights, it was kind of just “hello and goodbye” because the agents would come talk to you. I did programs with Hulk Hogan when he came back as the masked man, Mr. America.”

While McMahon’s direct involvement with stars may have waned over time, his impact remains palpable, with numerous current wrestlers attesting to his motivational presence backstage.

Nunzio’s revelations offer a rare glimpse into the dynamic between one of wrestling’s most iconic figures and a seasoned veteran. What do you make of Nunzio’s insights into his working relationship with Vince McMahon? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
