Top Dolla was released from his WWE contract last year, marking the second time he faced such a situation. However, he has taken it in stride and is now part of TNA Wrestling. In fact, he ended up becoming a champion for the first time during the latest TNA TV taping.

The former WWE Superstar wasted no time making an impact after he made his debut at GCW. Now known as AJ Francis, he would also become star in TNA Wrestling, something that he appreciates Scott D’Amore for.

TNA Wrestling held their latest set of television tapings at the MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19. During the May 19 taping, AJ Francis challenged Laredo Kid for the TNA Digital Media Championship.

According to PWInsider, AJ Francis defeated Laredo Kid to win the title, marking Francis’ first championship win in TNA. Naturally, this is a huge moment for the former WWE Superstar.

Laredo Kid had previously won the TNA Digital Media Championship on April 20 during the Countdown to TNA Rebellion, defeating Crazzy Steve. He held the title for 28 days and defended it once before losing it to Francis. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how AJ Francis will be booked as the TNA Digital Media Champion in the coming weeks.
