AEW’s Forbidden Door 3 event is anticipated to be an extraordinary spectacle, uniting talent from various promotions for one-of-a-kind matchups. In fact, a significant title match may be in the works, promising excitement and intrigue for fans.

As previously reported, Jon Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to claim the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Windy City Riot, thus making history. He has already defended his title a couple of times since becoming the champion as well.

As NJPW’s top champion, Jon Moxley is slated for a prominent match at the upcoming AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event, set to take place on Sunday, June 30, at the UBS Arena at Belmont Park in New York.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned discussions regarding a potential Jon Moxley IWGP Heavyweight Title defense against Tetsuya Naito at the Forbidden Door event.

”There was some talk of Tetsuya Naito at Forbidden Door challenging Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Heavyweight title.”

We have also reported that AEW has other plans for the Forbidden Door 3 event, notably working with CMLL and STARDOM. We will have to wait and see how the event will turn out in the end, especially with Jon Moxley involved.
