During his recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump, The Almighty expressed his desire to face off against GUNTHER in the King of the Ring tournament, citing their prolonged separation as fuel for his eagerness to compete against him.

Bobby Lashley even mentioned that he had actively pursued this matchup multiple times, including directly asking the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion himself, only to be met with reluctance on GUNTHER’s part.

“One person that I’d like to get my hands on because they’ve kept us really far apart for so long is Gunther. [Hosts bring up what Gunther did to Sheamus] Oh, yeah, I’m really nervous about that [laughs]. I’m not the one…look, I’ve asked for this matchup several times. I even asked him. He didn’t want to. He backed out.”

Despite Lashley’s intentions, recent developments have thrown a wrench into King of the Ring plans. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, in a recent announcement, revealed that Lashley would be sidelined from the tournament due to injury. As result, Street Profits member Angelo Dawkins would be stepping in as Lashley’s replacement. Meanwhile, GUNTHER advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating Sheamus on RAW this week.

Despite this setback, Bobby Lashley’s desire to face Gunther remains undeterred, indicating that their potential clash is a long-awaited showdown that fans are eager to witness.
