The Rock Surprises Specially-Abled Schoolkids with ‘Moana’ Performance

Since his return to WWE earlier this year, The Rock has been on an impressive run, with his heel persona gaining critical acclaim as one of his career’s finest performances. Despite taking a break from WWE, he has stayed busy with a variety of other projects. Recently, he made a memorable appearance at a school for specially-abled children, where he performed a song from Disney’s ‘Moana.’

Although The Rock’s time with WWE concluded after WrestleMania 40, his contributions were impactful, and fans continue to appreciate the essential role he played in WWE programming during his return.

The Rock took to Instagram and shared a heartwarming story about his visit to a school in Staten Island, New York, called P373R. This school has a unique tradition where the students vote each year on which play they want to perform, and this time, they overwhelmingly chose ‘Moana.’

The student population at P373R consists of children with various disabilities, such as Autism and developmental delays, as well as students from low-income households. The Rock highlighted the positive impact the musical performances have on these kids, noting how they boost their confidence, communication, and social skills.

What makes the school’s annual musical so special is its inclusivity. It embraces all students, including those who are non-verbal, have physical impairments, or experience social-emotional delays. The Rock emphasized that every kid gets a role in the production, making it a truly inclusive and uplifting event.

He expressed his excitement at getting to sing “You’re Welcome” from Moana, even if it’s in keys that don’t exist. The Rock concluded his message by encouraging the kids to have fun with their Moana musical and praised them for being awesome, reminding them to “stay cool.”

The musical is something they always look forward to. It always includes inclusivity of all the students including non vocal communicators, those with physical impairments and social emotional delays.
