WWE WrestleMania 40 Sunday featured Cody Rhodes dethroning Roman Reigns as the Undisputed Universal Champion, and it also had The Rock try to help out Reigns to no avail. Interestingly enough, Ryback has accused Cody Rhodes of coming off as fake.

On a recent episode of his Ryback TV podcast, former WWE superstar Ryback shared his thoughts on Cody Rhodes’ future in WWE, suggesting that Rhodes might lose his championship at SummerSlam depending on how he’s received by the fans.

Ryback emphasized that the longevity of Rhodes’ title reign could be influenced by several factors, including the audience’s reaction to his character and the direction of his storyline.

Ryback elaborated that Rhodes’ current persona is carefully crafted to align with the company’s expectations, often taking a politically correct approach and he added that Rhodes comes off as fake. He pointed out that while this kind of babyface character appeals to many, it could also seem insincere or contrived, leading fans to turn against it.

“[He’ll keep it like till SummerSlam probably?] Possibly, yeah. And I just think it depends, there’s a lot of factors that go in it, depends on how well he’s received. You know, with that type of character, you know, the story. He’s got that really political, he toes the company line. He’s ultra political, like, you know, babyface, says all the right things, that can come off fake at times as well because you know he’s towing the company line and fans could turn on that really quickly.”

AJ Styles will also be challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Backlash Premium Live Event on May 4th. It remains to be seen how Rhodes will fare against Styles, as it will be a major challenge for Rhodes.
