It’s Tuesday night and you know what that means! WWE NXT will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the April 16, 2024 episode.

WWE NXT Results (4/16/2024):

The show opens up with footage from earlier today of the live studio audience on the bus making their way to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. We also see the studio audience in line ahead of the doors opening for NXT.

Vic Joseph and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T then welcomes us to the show as Meta-Four (“Supernova 11” Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson) make their way down to the ring for the first match of the night. Dijak then makes his way down to the ring next.

Singles Match: Dijak vs. Meta-Four’s “Supernova 11” Noam Dar

The match starts off with Dar looking to hit a shoulder tackle on Dijak, but Dijak stays on his feet. Dar then hits a series of kicks on Dijak, but Dijak pushes him off. Dar then hits a low crossbody on Dijak and wears his arm down with a submission hold. Dar then rolls out of the ring to regroup with Meta-Four and Dijak looks to follow. Dar then slides back inside the ring and Dijak blasts him with a clothesline from the apron. Dar then puts Dijak in a submission hold, but Dijak escapes and sends Dar out of the ring.

Dar then nails Dijak with forearms in the center of the ring. Dijak then responds with a kick on Dar’s head and follows it up with a couple of back elbows. Dijak then hits a number of chops on Dar in the corner and sends Dar across the ring, then nails Dar with a sit-out chokeslam. Dar then hits Dijak with elbows on the back of his neck, then nails a kick on his leg. Dar then hits Dijak with a clothesline off the middle rope as he is draped through the middle rope, then he delivers a suplex. Dar then puts Dijak in an Arm Bar, but Dijak counters it into a pinfall to escape.

Dijak then hits Dar with a superkick to his head and charges at him in the corner, but Dar moves out of the way and Dijak is sent crashing to the outside. Dar then jumps off the apron and hits a dropkick on Dijak as he is leaning against the ring steps, then sends him back in the ring and lands a back elbow. Dijak then hits Dar with a big boot, but Oro Mensah jumps up on the apron. Dijak then nails Mensah with a superkick, which leads to Dar hitting the Nova Roller on Dijak for the win.

We then head to the back, where we see WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov have a conversation with NXT General Manager Ava in her office. Ava says it’s not fair that Trick Williams has to compete ahead of their NXT Championship next week at NXT Spring Breakin’ while he doesn’t. Dragunov then tells Ava to put out an open challenge to anyone willing to face him.

We then get a video vignette of Tatum Paxley cutting a promo on Lyra Valkyria and saying it was always about the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice

The match starts off with both women going back and forth before Ruca hits Vice with a facebuster and a superkick. Vice then nails Ruca with rapid fire kicks, then follows it up with a Hip Attack and goes for a pin, but Ruca kicks out. Vice then puts Ruca in a Sleeper, but Ruca makes it to her feet and hits a Sidewalk Slam on Vice. Ruca then hits Vice with a couple of shoulder tackles and a springboard clothesline. Ruca then hits Vice with a powerslam and a standing moonsault. Ruca then hits Vice with a boot, then climbs to the top. Blair Davenport trips Ruca, which leads to Vice hitting a superkick on Ruca for the win.

After the match, Natalya appears on the big screen and challenges Lola Vice to an NXT Underground Match in two weeks time at NXT Spring Breakin’.

We then head to the back, where we see Arianna Grace meet up with Gigi Dolin as they talk about her plans for the makeover she has in mind for Dolin.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Ridge Holland vs. LWO’s Joaquin Wilde

The match starts off with Wilde hitting Holland with strikes, but Holland nails Wilde with a back elbow and an uppercut. Wilde then nails Holland with a corkscrew, then dropkicks him out of the ring. Holland then looks to deliver a strike on Wilde, but Wilde moves out of the way and Holland’s hand is sent crashing into the ring post. Holland and Wilde then get back in the ring, but Holland sends Wilde back to the outside and hits a boot on the side of his head. Holland then follows it up with a belly-to-belly suplex on Wilde as Shawn Spears makes his way out to ringside. Wilde then hits Holland with a kick off the ropes, then follows it up with a neckbreaker. Holland then ends up on the outside and Wilde looks to fly. Holland then counters it into a powerslam and a DDT for the win.

After the match, Holland rushes to the back, but he collides with Spears on his way there.

We then get video footage from earlier today of The Viking Raiders’ Ivar and Josh Briggs arguing over who will challenge WWE NXT North American Champion Oba Femi next. Ivar tells Briggs to heal up and he could have the first shot after he defeats Femi. Briggs then tells Ivar to go back to RAW and get his a** beat by Sheamus. Ivar then challenges Briggs to a match tonight, where the winner will challenge Femi for the NXT North American Championship.

We then see Andre Chase and Thea Hail discuss Jacy Jayne’s revelation last week about Chase’s choice to place a bet on Hail winning the NXT Women’s Championship last summer, which Hail would end up losing due to Chase throwing in the towel and that would lead to the university getting bankrupt.

The Family then makes their way down as “The Don Of NXT” Tony D’Angelo will address the NXT Universe.

Tony D’Angelo starts off by saying after he and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo lost the NXT Tag Team Championship he said there would be some rapid growth in The Family. D’Angelo then says it hasn’t been easy, but he looks back at where he and Stacks were a year ago in comparison to where he, Stacks, Adriana Rizzo and Luca Crusifino are now. D’Angelo then says he went toe-to-toe with one of the toughest men in history when he faced Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver, but he ultimately came up short.

No Quarter Catch Crew’s music then hits and they make their way down to the ring. Charlie Dempsey starts off by telling D’Angelo that he doesn’t appreciate their dealings being made public last week. D’Angelo then says the NQCC couldn’t take care of their issue and Dempsey looks to get into specifics. D’Angelo then tells Dempsey to not get into the specifics in front of people and Stacks reiterates that when Dempsey looks to get into it. D’Angelo then says someone in NQCC needs to pay up and Dempsey says no one said anything about payment. Dempsey then tells D’Angelo there was trash that needed to be taken care of. Crusifino then says the NQCC can either pay their debt or handle things the hard way and D’Angelo says he does things strictly for business. D’Angelo then takes notice of the NQCC’s NXT Heritage Cup and asks Dempsey if he is willing to pay up by giving him the championship. Dempsey then says there is no way that is happening and The Family begins to brawl with the NQCC before they send the NDCC crashing out of the ring.

WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov then makes his way down to the ring for his open challenge. Several Superstars then race and begin to fight over who will get in the ring first and face Dragunov, but Je’Von Evans makes his way into the ring from the opposite side and gets inside first.

Singles Match: WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Je’Von Evans

The match starts off with Dragunov and Evans hitting forearms on each other. Dragunov then hits Evans with a couple of suplexes and an enzuigiri, then lands another German suplex and stomps on Evans in the corner. Dragunov then hits a series of headbutts on Evans, but Evans responds with kicks to Dragunov’s chest. Dragunov then hits Evans with a powerbomb and blasts him with an H-Bomb before going for a Constantine Special. Evans then counters it into a Spanish Fly and climbs to the middle rope, but Dragunov knocks Evans onto the apron. Evans then looks to jump off the top rope, but Dragunov blasts him with a right hand and follows it up with a knee. Evans then sends Dragunov to the outside, then nails him with a tope suicida and gets him back in the ring. Evans then climbs to the top rope and looks to hit a Frog Splash on Dragunov, but Dragunov gets his knees up and hits Evans with a Death Valley Driver into the corner. Dragunov then follows it up with the Torpedo Moskau for the win.

After the match, Dragunov shows some sportsmanship to Evans for one hell of a performance.

We then head to NXT General Manager Ava’s office and see Sol Ruca demand a No Disqualification Match against Blair Davenport on next week’s episode.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Chase U’s Thea Hail vs. Tatum Paxley

The match starts off with both women going back and forth before Hail hits Paxley with a splash on her arm. Paxley then responds with a backbreaker and a knee to Hail’s spine, then hits Hail with a crossbody to her spine in the corner. Paxley then nails Hail with a knee and puts her in a submission, but Hail escapes and hits Paxley with a codebreaker to her arm. Hail then hits Paxley with a couple of back elbows and a kick to her knee, then hits Paxley with a swinging neckbreaker. Jazmyn Nyx then makes her way down to the ring and distracts the referee. Hail then looks to hit the World’s Smallest Slam on Paxley and looks to fly, but Jacy Jayne appears and trips Hail. Paxley then takes advantage and rolls up Hail for the win.

After the match, Hail goes after Jayne and begins brawling with her. Officials and Chase U then make their way down to the ring to try and separate the two women as Lyra Valkyria blindsides Paxley in the ring and begins brawling with her.

We then head to the back, where we see WWE NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez have a conversation with Kelly Kincaid about Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley. Perez says she will be entertained while the two fight it out and she may give the winner a shot at her NXT Women’s Championship. NXT General Manager Ava then walks in and informs Perez that she will be defending her title against Valkyria and Paxley in a Triple Threat Match at NXT Spring Breakin’.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Tag Team Match.

Tag Team Match: The Final Testament’s AOP (Akam and Rezar) vs. Malik Blade and Edris Enofe

The match starts off with Enofe and Akam. Blade is tagged in and Enofe dropkicks Akam. Blade then wears Akam down, then tags Enofe back in. Rezar is then tagged in and hits a Death Valley Driver on Enofe in the corner. Akam then tags back in and hits a knee on Enofe to his midsection. Akam then continues wearing Enofe down, then tags in Rezar. Rezar then hits Enofe with a knee to his face and goes for a pin, but Enofe kicks out. Rezar then charges at Enofe in the corner, but Enofe moves out of the way and tags Blade in. Blade then hits Rezar with a dropkick that sends Rezar crashing out of the ring, then sends Akam out to join him. Blade then looks to fly, but AOP catches him. Enofe then looks to fly, but AOP sends Blade crashing into Enofe. AOP then hits the Super Collider on Blade and Enofe and Rezar pins Enofe for the win.

After the match, WWE NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axion make their way down to the ring, but are held back by referees.

We then get a video of Arianna Grace and Gigi Dolin shopping for clothes for Dolin as they attempt to start a makeover.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Josh Briggs vs. The Viking Raiders’ Ivar

The match starts off with Ivar hitting Briggs with a boot to the side of his face. Ivar then hits Briggs with a clothesline, then lands some back elbows on him in the corner as WWE NXT North American Champion Oba Femi looks on from the back. Briggs then hits Ivar with a boot, then follows it up with a splash. Ivar then hits Briggs with a senton out of the corner, then delivers a number of right hands on Briggs’ spine. Ivar then gets Briggs up on one shoulder, but Briggs escapes. Ivar then hits a powerslam on Briggs and a sit-out powerbomb, then goes for a pin, but Briggs kicks out. Ivar then climbs to the top rope and looks to fly, but Briggs moves out of the way and hits a Sidewalk Slam on Ivar. Briggs then goes for a pin, but Ivar kicks out. Briggs then hits Ivar with a shoulder tackle that sends him crashing out of the ring, then follows him out there and hits him with a flying shoulder tackle off the apron. Ivar then sends Briggs crashing into the ring steps, then hits Briggs with a spinning back heel kick and sends him back inside the ring. Ivar then climbs to the top rope and hits Briggs with a doomsault for the win.

The lineup for next week’s episode of NXT Spring Breakin’ week one is then announced.

We then head to the back, where Carmelo Hayes cuts a promo on Trick Williams ahead of their Steel Cage Match. Hayes says his beef with Williams is not over until he says it is.

We then get the entrances of the main event, which is a Steel Cage Match.

Steel Cage Match: Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes

The match starts off with Hayes pushing Williams. Williams then hits Hayes with a couple of bodyslams, then looks to hit another one. Hayes then escapes and hits Williams with a boot to his midsection. Williams then hits Hayes with a dropkick and another bodyslam. Williams then goes for a pin, but Hayes kicks out. Hayes then sends Williams’ face bouncing off the side of the cage, then gets handed a night stick by one of his security guards. Hayes then cracks it across Williams’ midsection and spine.

Hayes then stomps on Williams in the corner and sends his face bouncing off the side of the cage. Hayes then follows it up with a Codebreaker and goes for a pin, but Williams kicks out. Hayes then sends Williams crashing into the side of the cage on opposite sides as his security guards watch on from the ramp. Hayes then charges at Williams, but Williams moves out of the way and Hayes is sent crashing into the side of the cage. Williams then hits a Uranage on Hayes off the top rope before the two go back and forth with strikes. Williams then hits Hayes with a couple of back heel kicks and a flapjack, then follows it up with a suplex and sends Hayes into opposite sides of the cage. Williams then hits Hayes with a neckbreaker.

Hayes then climbs to the top rope and looks to fly, but Williams stops him and hits him with a chokeslam. Williams then goes for a pin, but Hayes kicks out. Hayes then hits Williams with a DDT and a Codebreaker, but Williams responds with a flying shoulder tackle. Hayes then hits Williams with a jumping knee before he and Williams send each other’s faces bouncing off the side of the cage while standing on the middle rope. Both men then exchange chops. Hayes then hits Williams with a kick as Hayes’ security begins climbing the cage. Williams then meets them up there and sends them crashing to the outside as one of them enters the ring through the door with a chair in hand. Williams then sends the security guard crashing into opposite sides and out of the cage. Williams then closes the door and when he turns around, Hayes looks to hit him with the chair. Williams then sees it and hits the Trick Shot on Hayes using the chair Hayes has in his hand for the win.

After the match, Trick Williams climbs to the top of the cage to celebrate as WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov appears with his title in hand and stares down Williams as the show comes to a close.
