Dominik Mysterio is undoubtedly one of the most hated heels in WWE right now, who continues to get booed out of the building every week. Dominik Mysterio now reflects on his time as NXT North American Champion.

Dominik Mysterio’s journey to singles championship gold in WWE’s NXT began when he defeated Wes Lee to win the NXT North American Championship. This victory marked Mysterio’s first singles title in his wrestling career.

After capturing the title, Dominik faced a setback when he lost the championship to Trick Williams at WWE NXT No Mercy. However, he managed to regain the NXT North American Championship soon after. Despite his success in reclaiming the title, Mysterio’s reign eventually came to an end when he faced off against Dragon Lee.

During a recent appearance on the Ringer Wrestling podcast, Dominik Mysterio reflected on his experience in WWE NXT and expressed his pride in the work he accomplished during his time there. Mysterio shared that his career path was unique compared to most wrestlers, as he started on the main roster before moving to NXT, unlike the typical trajectory of starting in NXT and then being called up to the main roster.

Mysterio spoke about how different his journey was and how it made his career stand out. He noted that he initially went to NXT to work with younger talent, though some of them were older than him. He found it rewarding to mentor and work with the NXT roster, expressing gratitude for the trust Shawn Michaels placed in him to perform in NXT for as long as he did.

“It’s honestly kind of crazy. I don’t know how, but I managed to skip that whole thing that they do, that whole beginning part, and I was very blessed for that. To be able to do my career a little bit differently than everybody else, because everyone starts now in NXT and moves up. I started on the main roster and then came down to NXT and stayed down there for a while, so for me, that felt like my career was already so much different than everybody else’s and that just made it way more different and like it stood out for me because like you said, I went down there to work with the younger talent but some of them are older than me.

To be able to go in there and mentor them, as weird as that sounds, it’s just cool man. I’m glad that Shawn Michaels was able to give me that trust to go down there and work with them for as long as I did, because I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to have that NXT North American Championship for that long, but I wasn’t gonna give it up. I feel like I had some of my best work down there, so I’m really proud of the work I did in NXT.”

Dominik Mysterio wants piece of Bad Bunny as well. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see what’s next in store for the former NXT North American Champion in the coming weeks.
