The recent transition of The Rock into heel character has injected WWE programming with a renewed and electrifying energy. His return has led to a ton of changes in plan and even Triple H has now admitted that audibles are a weekly thing in WWE.

Following WWE Royal Rumble, there was a noticeable shift as Cody Rhodes appeared to make way for The Rock to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, a significant segment of the audience voiced their disapproval, leading to “We Want Cody” trending on social media platforms.

Just days after The Rock’s confrontation with Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes reasserted his presence in the title picture. During the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff, Rhodes boldly declared that he had won the Rumble and would be challenging Roman Reigns for the title at WrestleMania 40.

In an interview with ESPN, Triple H discussed the shift in direction for WWE programming. The Cerebral Assasin admitted that audibles are a weekly thing in WWE as they gauge the fan reaction to different storylines.

Now it’s a different time, and the way I do things is slightly different,” Triple H said. “My career, I learned from being here, but there were things along the way that I always thought I would do differently. In this time now, I get to make those calls and with a large team of people. Whether people will want to believe it or not, I think we were sort of looking at this as here’s where we’re going to go to get this started and it has the opportunity of going this way or that way.

“We always have to call audibles every single week. Everything you do is dependent on reactions. That’s what we do as an industry. … The beautiful thing with this group and with Cody and Roman and Rock especially, everybody’s got their ear to the ground. … And then we all just get together and figure the s— out.”

The Rock battered Cody Rhodes on RAW last week and fans certainly had the appropriate reaction to that. With WrestleMania 40 set to take place this week, we’ll have to see if more audibles will be called.
