Cody Rhodes is the biggest babyface in WWE right now and many fans are rooting for him to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Rhodes broke down in a promo on RAW last week and this led to him getting criticized.

During the March 11 episode of WWE RAW, Michael Cole questioned Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins’ decision to accept a tag team match challenge. In a heartfelt promo, Rhodes opened up about how Rollins and his family members had shown belief in him. Overwhelmed with emotion, Rhodes mentioned how he wanted to give the Universal Title to his mother.

Former WWE writer Vince Russo has criticized Cody Rhodes for crying in his promos on Monday Night RAW. Russo, appearing on Busted Open, expressed that casual fans, like himself, don’t want to see wrestlers cry.

“Cody, get therapy, man. Every freaking week, this guy is going out, cutting promos, he can’t get through a promo without crying. Casual wrestling fans, we don’t want to see wrestlers cry, bro. We want to see men’s men, we want to see wrestlers, we want to see testosterone, bro. We don’t want to see namby-pamby crybabies.”

Russo specifically referenced a recent emotional promo by Rhodes on last week’s RAW, where Rhodes mentioned that he couldn’t give the world title to his late father, Dusty Rhodes, but he could still give it to his mother and his wife.

“What, Cody? You’re going to give your mother a prop that you didn’t win? And you’re going to get all choked up about it?”

Even The Rock called out Cody Rhodes for crying on Monday Night RAW. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see what Cody Rhodes will have to say in response to The Rock’s concert on Friday Night SmackDown last week.
