After betraying Rey Mysterio a few months ago, Santos Escobar has ascended to new levels of dominance. In November, he inflicted a torn meniscus injury on WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and has since been assembling a formidable new faction. However, Mysterio made his comeback this month, and after SmackDown this week, he vowed to exact revenge on Escobar.
The subsequent week, Escobar and the rest of Legado del Fantasma launched an assault on Dragon Lee. During the March 15 episode, Escobar emerged victorious against Lee in a match, but Mysterio intervened after the bout to rescue Lee. Following this, Mysterio issued a challenge to Escobar for a face-off on the March 22 episode.
In a SmackDown Exclusive, Dragon Lee expressed gratitude towards Rey Mysterio. The Master of The 619 then sent a message to Santos Escobar, making it clear he would exact revenge on his former LWO partner.
”That’s what they do. They like to jump people when they’re alone and behind their backs. I threw the challenge out. Now, I’m just waiting for Santos to accept it. Santos, for so many months, kept bragging and bragging. ‘You and me, together, we are family.‘ I’ll never forget that, and my knee will never forget that either. Next week, there’s gonna be a lot of payback.”
We will have to wait and see whether the WWE Hall of Famer will be able to get his revenge on Santos Escobar during next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, as we approach WrestleMania 40.
