WrestleMania Caliber Match Announced for 3/22 Smackdown Episode

For months now, Santos Escobar has been enjoying his time with the new Legado Del Fantasma following his betrayal on Rey Mysterio. The former NXT star injured the Hall of Famer in November with a brutal attack and has been engaged in a feud with Carlito and other members of LWO since then. 

However, on the 3/8 episode of Smackdown, following an attack on Carlito and LWO, Santos Escobar stood tall when Rey Mysterio made surprise return. Announcing his return from injury, Mysterio sent a stern message to his former prodigy. 

On the 3/15 episode of Smackdown, Escobar faced Dragon Lee in a singles match which turned into a 3 on 1 handicap match when Angel and Berto got involved. However, things turned around when Carltio came out to Lee’s aid, but the numbers advantage for Escobar and Co. was enough to take him down. 

Rey Mysterio then made an appearance and challenged Escobar for a match on Smackdown next week. While millions have been expecting this match to take place on a stage like WrestleMania, WWE has announced next week’s Smackdown as the date.
