Chad Gable was the fan favorite to win the Gauntlet match on RAW this week and book his ticket to WrestleMania 40 against Gunther, but that didn’t happen and this deeply saddened fans. Afterwards, Gable broke his silence on the matter and revealed what’s next for him.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Ricochet, JD McDonagh, Sami Zayn, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura and Chad Gable battled in a gauntlet match to determine the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.

In the end, Sami Zayn would prevail and book his ticket for WrestleMania 40 against Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. However, this meant that Chad Gable didn’t win, and this disappointed fans.

While speaking in backstage interview after Monday Night RAW, Chad Gable was asked to share his thoughts on his loss. Chad Gable expressed his frustration, acknowledging a recurring theme of coming up short in his singles career. He described it as more than just a disappointment, emphasizing the sense of defeat. Gable highlighted the visceral nature of the experience, emphasizing that it goes beyond personal shortcomings and extends to letting down those who depend on him.

”Coming up short, you hear that all the time, it’s starting to become a story of my singles career. It’s disappointing, to put it lightly, more than anything it’s like a defeat in a sense. For those that have never felt something like this, it’s more visceral than you can describe, it’s not coming up short, it’s more letting down people that depend on you in a number of ways.”

For him, this setback holds more significance than WrestleMania or a championship; it’s a deeply personal matter for both him and his family. Gable reflected on the guiding principles of his life, which revolve around delivering on promises, and admitted that falling short in this instance has shaken his perception of himself.

”To me this meant a lot more than WrestleMania or championship, it was a very personal thing for me and my family. I don’t wanna get melodramatic here but it’s really true, this is a lot of the guiding forces in my life, to deliver on the things I say I’m gonna do and it’s always who I’ve always been. This has been an example of me not doing that, if you real it down to it, it really shatters your paradigm of who you thought you were, so it goes pretty deep.”

Chad Gable would then make it clear he simply has no idea what he will do next, as he is truly lost and directionless following his crushing defeat.

”Where do I go from here? I don’t know. I’m gonna go home tomorrow and be aimless, lost, directionless, questioning myself, questioning my work ethic, my dedication, if I’ve done it right. Because as I said, it’s a paradigm shifter, so what’s next? I don’t know, I have no clue.”

We will have to wait and see whether Chad Gable will eventually get his one-on-one match with Gunther somewhere down the line, as fans still feel there is a chance of that happening.
