The recent WWE comeback of The Rock stirred considerable excitement, momentarily stealing the spotlight from Cody Rhodes’ anticipated WrestleMania 40 appearance. This led to a ton of outrage from fans and now even John Cena addressed the controversial segment being disliked.

The conclusion of the February 2nd WWE SmackDown sparked division among fans when The Rock confronted Roman Reigns. This occurred after Cody Rhodes, bringing out the Hollywood megastar, seemingly gave up his WrestleMania 40 title shot.

Fans expressed dissatisfaction, feeling WWE’s top babyface was sidelined for a part-timer once more. The added frustration stemmed from the possibility that Rhodes might not conclude his storyline this year.

This even led to the video getting more than half million dislikes on YouTube. While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, John Cena addressed fans disliking the aforementioned segment with The Rock and Roman Reigns. The Leader of Cenation stated that he believes the fans weren’t actually angry with The Rock.

“I think The Rock is such an attraction. I don’t think our audience is angry with him, I think there’s an underlying sense of fillment [sic] that they’re angry that their expectations were changed. The metric I use, from my own path of polarization, they did a segment that was heavily disliked. I think it was the most disliked segment in WWE social history. How many WrestleMania ticket refunds you see? Zero! The metric to look at for me is how many people don’t want to see the show.”

In the weeks since that segment, The Rock turned heel and aligned himself with The Bloodline as they are all feuding with Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. We will have to wait and see how they will remain booked as we slowly approach WrestleMania 40.
