Tony Khan recently provided an update on Kenny Omega’s status, following the wrestler’s announcement on December 15, 2023, that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus due to diverticulitis.

Despite Omega’s inclusion in the advertising for upcoming shows in Canada starting on March 16, Khan cautioned against assuming that Omega would be cleared to compete by then.

While expressing optimism about Omega’s eventual return, Khan emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the exact timeline for his comeback. “I don’t think it would be fair to create the expectation that Kenny Omega would be cleared by then,” said Tony.

He continued, “I’m very optimistic Kenny will be coming back, but I don’t know the exact date. I think that’s an aggressive timetable. Kenny is one of AEW’s great stars and we can’t wait to have him back as soon as possible. I don’t think it would be fair to create the expectation he would be cleared by then though.”

The exact date of Omega’s return to the ring remains unknown. He was originally scheduled to wrestle at AEW Worlds End before his hospitalization and diagnosis, but plans were put on hold indefinitely due to his health condition.
