WWE Hall of Famer Sting is set to wrap up his professional wrestling career this week at AEW Revolution, where Darby Allin will be his partner. Ahead of his retirement bout, many believe that Sting’s AEW run wouldn’t have been possible without Darby Allin.

Upon making his debut in All Elite Wrestling back in 2020, Sting quickly established a mentorship with Darby Allin. They formed a tag team and have maintained an undefeated record in AEW programming.

During a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was asked about Sting giving credit to Darby Allin for his final run in AEW. Booker expressed no surprise at Sting’s humility, stating that Sting is a humble individual. He emphasized that he believes the last run wouldn’t have been possible without Darby, praising Darby for his hard work and for putting Sting on a pedestal.

“Not at all. Not at all. Sting’s a humble dude. Sting’s humble. You’re not gonna find too many guys have a lot of bad things to say about Sting. He’s humble as humble can be. I’m sure he’s feeling a certain way about his last run, and honestly, I don’t think it could have been done without Darby. Darby was the guy that was going out there, doing a lot of the work but still representing Sting at the same time, still putting Sting on a pedestal at the same time, still looking at Sting like he’s the he ultimate mentor, like, ‘Man, I couldn’t have found a better place than to be Sting’s right hand man.’ Can you imagine that? As a young kid, watching Sting do his thing for so many years, and next thing you know, you’re tag-teaming with him? So I get that 100%.

Booker T highlighted the unique experience for Darby, going from watching Sting as a young fan to becoming his tag team partner. He commended Sting for ending his career on his terms and acknowledged the resilience he displayed in pursuing his own path despite doubters. Booker T then extended big props to Sting for his successful career.

So big ups to Sting. He’s getting ready to call it a day and ride off into the sunset. One thing about him, he did it his way, he did it on his own terms. He didn’t let anybody tell him he couldn’t do it when so many people told him he couldn’t. So big props to Sting. Big props.”

Sting also expressed regret over not facing off against Kenny Omega in singles match in AEW. Only time will tell whether Sting will walk out of AEW Revolution with his head held high when all is said and done.
