Randy Orton made his return at Survivor Series back in November last year and in the months since then, firmly established himself as one of the top Superstars in WWE again. With that said, he gave credit to an AEW star for his career transformation.

Randy Orton has had an illustrious over two-decade-long career in WWE, establishing himself as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the company’s history. Despite his numerous achievements, fans didn’t always regard Orton highly for his microphone and promo skills, considering it a potential weak point in his arsenal.

A notable transformation took place in 2020, particularly during his feud with the returning Edge, where Randy Orton’s mic work experienced a significant improvement.

While speaking in an interview with WrestleRant, Randy Orton highlighted his collaboration with Edge as the turning point that elevated his promo skills to a new level. He admitted to a previous lack of dedication to promos but credited his work with Edge for delving into their shared history and bringing out genuine, factual moments.

Orton acknowledged the impact of emotion in his delivery, realizing the significance of promos after receiving a newfound reaction from the audience. Despite being late to recognize their importance, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continually improve in this aspect of his craft.

“I was stuck, I wasn’t putting as much time and effort into those promos. Then when I started working with Edge, we had a lot of history and I was able to go into our past and dig up some moments that were completely 100% factual. I’d flub a word or my grammar wouldn’t be great or I would misspeak, but because of the emotion behind what I was saying it didn’t matter because they knew that I believed in what I was saying.

“When I started getting the reaction to me on the microphone that I’d never gotten before I realized like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve been missing out on this for almost 20 years? Holy s**t.’

“It’s so much more than wrestling, the promos are so important, and I hate that I was so late to the game on them but just blessed that I am still around so that I can continually improve.”

Randy Orton and Logan Paul will be feuding with each other as we head towards WrestleMania 40, so we will have to wait and see how WWE will book them in the coming weeks.
