CM Punk suffered triceps injury at the Royal Rumble, casting doubt on his participation in WrestleMania 40. Unfortunately, he will miss the event, and even Eric Bischoff expressed sympathy for Punk.

CM Punk’s announcement on Monday Night RAW confirmed his genuine injury, shattering hopes of him headlining WrestleMania 40. Additionally, The Second City Saint expressed his desire for Cody Rhodes to succeed at the event instead.

While speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s injury. Bischoff expressed disappointment, giving emphasis to the missed opportunities and potential for compelling stories with Punk’s return to WWE.

“He had a fresh start in WWE. He was coming back, the stories that could have been told, the opportunities that were there for him (…) and going through whatever, you know, again (…) I don’t know him. I’ve never had a syllable of conversation with the man.”

Bischoff further expressed empathy for CM Punk, acknowledging the emotional roller coaster Punk has endured over the past 10 months. Bischoff talked about the challenges Punk faced, including the AEW experience, returning to WWE, and now dealing with the recent injury. Bischoff admitted feeling genuinely sorry for Punk, recognizing the difficulties he has navigated during this period.

“I don’t know what he’s made of or what he’s like. But to go through this emotional roller coaster that he’s been on for the last however long it’s been, eight months, 10 months (…) between the craziness at AEW and and coming back to WWE and now? This man (…) I feel bad for him. I really do. I don’t know how you couldn’t feel bad for him.”

CM Punk’s injury also caused changes to Monday Night RAW this week. Drew McIntyre has been constantly going after CM Punk after his injury as well, as it is likely they will be feuding once Punk returns. Punk is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months, so we’ll have to see if he will begin the Summer of Punk upon his return.
