Former NXT General Manager William Regal shockingly reemerged in WWE’s developmental territory, NXT this week after nearly two years of absence. However, a new development indicates that Regal may not be a regular on their television programming moving forward.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed Regal’s return as a cameo. He was part of a segment with The Rock’s daughter and current NXT star, Ava Raine naming her the youngest GM of WWE NXT.

“It’s only a Cameo”

William Regal has been credited as one of the most remarkable British wrestlers of all time. He had been a part of WWE as an in-ring competition during the mid-1990s and late 2000s. Following the end of his in-ring career, Regal took over the responsibilities as the General Manager of WWE NXT in 2012 and also took a corporate role, working more closely toward the development of the next generation of talent.

The former King of the Ring winner would then jump ship to WWE’s rival promotion, AEW in March 2022 where he was seen managing the Blackpool Combat Club. This turned out to be a short stint as William Regal left the company in December.

Although he signed back with WWE shortly after, William Regal would have to wait one year due to a clause in his AEW contract to appear on television programming that would finally happen this week on NXT.
