Tony Khan Determined to Retain Daniel Garcia as His AEW Contract Nears Expiration

The world of professional wrestling finds WWE and AEW as its top frontrunners for producing some of the best in-ring talents in the world. Among the brightest and fresh stars coming up, veteran Kevin Kelly labeled AEW star Daniel Garcia a hot commodity of the business.

Daniel Garcia has emerged as one of the fastest-rising stars of AEW with his exceptional in-ring work and overall presentation. The former ROH Pure champion did announce recently that he was in contract year and was looking for it to be extended.

During a recent appearance on the Wrestling Observer Live, Kevin called Daniel Garcia a valuable asset to the professional wrestling world. Moreover, his status as a top prospect made Kelly state that AEW President Tony Khan would go to all lengths to keep him in the company, as his contract nears its end.

“I love the kid. He’s in a contract year. He knows that this is a time for him to really prove he can make a lot of money be a valuable asset in the world of professional wrestling. I know that Tony Khan loves him. I know that Tony Khan is going to do whatever he could to keep him. I don’t think that’s the question. I think it’s, ‘How much am I worth? Where do you see me now? Where does AEW see me for the next three to five years?’ That’s interesting. It’s not a matter of coasting, it’s a matter of working hard and running through the tape so when I do cross that finish line of this year, I’ve shown you everything I possibly can and I want to make you convinced that investing in me in the future is the best way to go. I think Daniel Garcia is re-writing the book on that.”

Garcia has been a part of the AEW roster since 2021. Over his nearly three-year tenure, he has found himself competing against the likes of top-tier stars like Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley.

Moreover, his notable accomplishments include a run as the ROH Pure champion and a breakout performance in the AEW Continental Classic that culminated at the end of last year.

With Garcia’s current deal coming up, it would be interesting to see if Kevin Kelly’s prediction about Tony Khan retaining him at all costs would come true or not.
