WWE has been very much active in the free agent market, eyeing to bring some of the best up-for-grabs talent to their roster. That also includes a popular NJPW star Tama Tonga, who they had been interested earlier as well.

The Guerilla of Destiny had been a major fixture for NJPW for a long time before announcing the end of his stint with them and ready to become a free agent. He confirmed that he was looking to return home to the United States, giving the global juggernaut the opening to sign the former NEVER Openweight Champion.

During the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that the Stamford-based promotion still had maintained their interest in signing him since last year and there were reports about discussions taking place to bring him over to WWE once the old deal came to an end.

As far as Tonga is concerned, he bid farewell to NJPW at the New Beginning show. He dropped the NEVER Openweight Championship to EVIL and will finish up with the company at the end of January.

Tama Tonga made few appearances for the newly rebranded TNA in 2022 and 2023, despite AEW and WWE being considered to offer big money deals to sign him. So it would be interesting to see where the former NJPW star eventually lands up once his contract comes to an end.

Do you think Tama Tonga will choose to sign with WWE? Will he prove to be an asset for them? Sound off in the comments!
