AEW President Tony Khan works hard to ensure that each and every episode of his shows is worth watching. This week’s Dynamite was no exception, but it appears AEW had to make some last-minute changes to one particular match.

The January 17th, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite featured a lot of excellent in-ring action, including Penta El Zero Miedo and Komander squaring off against Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta.

However, a video posted on AEW’s social media before the episode revealed that the original plan was Best Friends against Lucha Bros. Unfortunately, neither Chuck Taylor nor Rey Fenix was cleared to compete, leading to the changes.

In the video, Trent Beretta mentioned that Chuck Taylor’s injury was more severe than anticipated, and Chuck himself stated that his ankle was “jammed up.”

Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta would pick up the win in the tag team bout and would be confronted by The Undisputed Kingdom shortly afterwards. Nonetheless, fans are hoping Chuck Taylor and Rey Fenix will make their in-ring returns sooner rather than later.
