Ilja Dragunov Not Medially Cleared To Defend NXT Title At New Year’s Evil

WWE brought their first special of 2024 with NXT New Year’s Evil. It was quite a show as the company’s third brand kicked things off in a big way for 2024.

Ilja Dragunov had quite a match against Ridge Holland a few weeks ago. That match ended early, as Ilja was stretchered off while claiming that his neck was injured.

The NXT Title was supposed to be on the line during New Year’s Evil. Sadly, Trick Williams won’t get that shot yet.

It was revealed during the NXT New Year’s Evil match that Ilja Dragunov’s neck did not heal up in time. That means the NXT Title will not be on the line against Trick Williams.

We will have to see how WWE books this situation. Ilja Dragunov’s injury is a work, so it’s very possible that this will only add to Trick Williams’ journey to the top of NXT.
