Top Dolla quickly grasped the workings of WWE, but despite the company’s expectations, he struggled to gain significant popularity. His stint with WWE came to an end in September when he was released. Top Dolla has since disclosed the reason behind his decision not to return to WWE.

After Triple H took charge of WWE’s creative direction, Top Dolla and the rest of his group returned to the company in August 2022, except for Swerve Strickland, who is now with AEW. As previously reported, Top Dolla was released by WWE in September as part of the company’s previous slew of releases.

Hit Row was never able to accomplish much in their second stint in WWE and Top Dolla’s only memorable contribution in that run was his botched dive to the outside, which ended up saving his life.

While speaking to Riju Dasgupta, Top Dolla appreciated his time in WWE as well as the friends he made. However, Dolla made it clear he didn’t want to go back to WWE, as they simply didn’t want him there after firing him twice. He dubbed WWE as an ex-girlfriend and showed no interest in returning there.

“It is one of those things like, sometimes you fly too close to the sun and like, did I enjoy my time in the WWE? Yeah. Did I appreciate all the friends and relationships I built while I was there? Yeah. But, like, they didn’t want me, you know what I’m saying? They proved it twice! So it’s like, I’m not the kind of guy that is going to keep going back to my ex-girlfriend, telling her how much I miss her. If you don’t need me, that’s cool, bruh; I hope it works out for you because I’m going to be alright.”

Top Dolla already made his first post-WWE appearance recently. Now known as AJ Francis, he is set to square off against Joey Janela at GCW Look at Me on January 26th, in Tampa, Florida. It remains to be seen how Francis will fare in the coming months.
