The Undertaker put his body on the line for fans’ enjoyment, and most of them always appreciated that. This commitment has earned him legendary status, but it has its drawbacks. Taker might be one of the biggest names in the business, but even he had things he didn’t want to do while being the champion, especially when it came to having a custom title.

The Deadman was a fixture of WWE television for over thirty years, and he continued to be a highlight of WWE television since the early 90s. During the late 90s, The Deadman was simply unstoppable as the World Champion, but that didn’t save him from Vince McMahon’s wrath.

WWE always introduced custom championships to commemorate the title runs of legendary figures such as Randy Savage, Bret Hart, The Usos, Mick Foley, and The Undertaker. Select wrestlers, including Steve Austin, have personalized championships like the Smoking Skull title.

While speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker was asked if he would have wanted a custom title during his run. The Deadman made it clear he was against that as he felt the WWE Championship should remain traditional and not custom.

No. I’m a traditionalist. I’m old school. Whatever the world title is, that’s what I wanted to represent. As cool as [the custom belt] is, it’s one of the nicest looking belts I’ve seen, I would have wanted one of the traditional belts, unless it was the spinner belt, which was awful. If I had my choice, the spinner belt or [custom belt], I would have gone with the [custom belt]. I always like the traditional championships. Back then, it was more about being the champion than marketing. I’m not opposed to making money. I just think there are certain traditions and things that should be untouched. The championship should be the championship.”

The Undertaker also recently claimed that people accuse him of ruining their childhoods. Regardless, The Phenom will forever be regarded as one of the true GOATs of the world of professional wrestling and that’s never changing.
