The WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event will be taking place on January 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Naturally, fans are very excited for one of the Big Four Premium Live Events, as WWE always has an ace up their sleeves for these events. It is expected that Roman Reigns will be defending his titles at the show and now his plans for the event have been unveiled.
Randy Orton returned to WWE, and he eventually inked an exclusive deal with SmackDown. He will be feuding with The Bloodline on the blue brand going forward and with Roman Reigns set to return this month, fans can expect the two Superstars to clash finally.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that WWE is building towards a few major title matches for the Royal Rumble. This includes Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed Universal Titles against Randy Orton. It was also noted that Reigns’ title defence was already planned months in advance.
”For the Royal Rumble, while nothing is announced, they seem to be teasing Reigns vs. Orton, Sky vs. Belair and Logan Paul defending the U.S. title against a tournament winner. With the two Rumbles, you probably aren’t having more than three or four other matches so some of that could be for television. Rollins vs. McIntyre is another match they are building as a major one. Reigns defending on the show was part of the plans for months and he starts back in two weeks on Smackdown.”
We will have to see how WWE books the Royal Rumble event, especially when it comes to Roman Reigns and Randy Orton’s eventual feud. After all, a clash between the two titans is more than worthy of the Royal Rumble show.
