WWE fans eagerly awaiting AJ Styles’ return to television will have to wait a bit longer, as he won’t be making an appearance on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

Styles’ last match took place on the September 15 episode of SmackDown, where he faced Finn Balor and was defeated. Following this match, Styles was taken off TV after a confrontation with the Bloodline.

According to a report from PWInsider, WWE had initially planned to bring Styles back several weeks ago and even locally advertised his return for tonight’s show. However, his return has been delayed due to creative decisions.

“WWE had planned at one point to bring Styles back several weeks ago but delayed that return. We are told by a source it’s a creative decision as to when he will return and that it could be any week now, but for those who have asked about him returning tonight, we have been told that it will not be this week.”

The report suggests that the timing of Styles’ return is a matter of creative direction, and it could happen in any upcoming week. This keeps fans in anticipation of when “The Phenomenal One” will make his highly anticipated comeback to WWE programming.
