Dakota Kai faced her share of ups and downs in recent times. After her release in May 2022, she made a surprising return during SummerSlam that year, joining Damage CTRL alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky. Although she experienced championship success following her return, things took a turn for the worse due to an injury. Now she has clapped back against accusations that she faked her ACL injury.

Dakota Kai has history of injuries, and this time, it’s an ACL injury that required surgery for repair. Unfortunately, it will still be a while before she can step back into the wrestling ring.

Dakota Kai has made solid progress on her recovery, as she is now a regular feature on WWE television while she has yet to make an in-ring return. That said, this has led to many people accusing her of faking her ACL injury, especially after her part in a recent brawl.

While speaking on her recent Twitch stream, Dakota Kai addressed ‘detective’ fans who accused of her faking her ACL injury. Kai made it clear rehab is a process and it doesn’t mean she has to be confined to a wheelchair until she is cleared.

“Bro, you want me to be in a wheelchair until I’m cleared? That’s not how rehab works. I’m able to run and jump. This isn’t a shocker. I’m like, ‘Why would I do that? Why would I choose to sit on the sidelines? Like, no one wants that. No one wishes that on anyone. But I’m able to… like, I can run. I can jump.

“It’s not like my leg is amputated. But rehab is just one of those things where… in all sports, no one is getting back in to play like before six, seven months. Certain places have things that they have to abide by, like certain medical teams. For us, it’s like usually it’s like eight to nine, slash 12 months, depending.”

Dakota Kai also previously revealed when she will likely make her return to the squared circle. We will have to wait and see how WWE will keep on using Dakota Kai till her in-ring return.
