The Royal Rumble is going down on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, from Tampa, FL at Tropicana Field. This should be a big show, but fans who are expecting to see LA Knight get another shot at Roman Reigns’ Undisputed Universal Title might not be too happy right now.

Fans who were hoping for a recently rumored match involving Roman Reigns at WWE Royal Rumble will find themselves disappointed. Reigns has been operating on a reduced schedule since signing a new WWE contract last year. His most recent in-ring appearance occurred at Crown Jewel, where he successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against LA Knight. This marked his first televised match since Summerslam, as he did not compete in Payback and Fastlane events.

Roman Reigns is not scheduled to appear at this Saturday’s Survivor Series and is expected to remain absent from television for the remainder of the year. The prevailing belief is that Reigns will make his television return at the outset of the Royal Rumble build-up.

LA Knight is on fire right now with the WWE Universe. He has also made it clear that he isn’t done with the Bloodline. While many expected him to get another crack at Roman Reigns, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the Royal Rumble.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter dropped a note to let fans know that they should not expect to see LA Knight get that match against Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble.

“We were told that as of this time, Reigns vs. Knight is not the title match at Rumble. That is Reigns’ next match. There are those who feel it should be Knight in that spot, but we were told [Paul] Levesque has another plan right now.”

Given Roman Reigns’ status as one of WWE’s top stars and his dominant reign as Universal Champion, any match he is rumored to be part of generates significant interest among fans. While the disappointment may be palpable for those eager to see Reigns in action, it is highly likely that his return in the Royal Rumble build-up will be met with great anticipation and excitement.
