Since AEW’s start in 2019, many pro wrestling fans have had a lot of fun talking about how they are in competition with WWE. Tony Khan’s company and WWE will go head-to-head with Collision and SmackDown this week on November 17th.

Powerhouse Hobbs firmly believes that Tony Khan’s company has already achieved this goal, asserting, “We’re on the same level as them. We’re their competitors,” in an interview on Chillin’ with ICE.

Hobbs also discussed the notion that he might thrive in WWE, but he hasn’t considered such a move because he regards AEW highly. He explained, “When people ask if I want to go to WWE, I tell them we’re right there with them.”

Powerhouse Hobbs went on to say that AEW has beatedn WWE in the ratings “at times,” and that means they are on WWE’s necks.

“They’re on national TV, and we’re on national TV. We go head-to-head, we’re right on them. We’ve beaten them in ratings at times. We’re right there on their neck. There are two major companies in this business — it’s WWE and AEW.”

While AEW boasts the record for the highest paid attendance at a professional wrestling event with All In. That number has been contested in recent memory.

WWE’s merger with UFC and lucrative television deals for “WWE SmackDown” and “WWE NXT,” suggest there may still be a gap between the two companies in terms of their overall positioning. A new programming deal for AEW, likely still with Warner Bros. Discovery, is anticipated in the coming months. Comparing it to what WWE has already secured, especially with WWE Raw still in play.
