Rey Mysterio has been through a lot in his career, but he recently had to go under the knife once again. Thankfully, it seems that his return prognosis gives fans hope that he will be back for the road to WrestleMania 40.

Fans were bit surprised when Rey Mysterio told fans that he is out of action with a knee injury. This required surgery, but it seems that he won’t be out of action for very long.

This past Friday night on WWE SmackDown, Rey Mysterio faced an unexpected attack from his LWO stablemate Santos Escobar. This incident occurred shortly after Mysterio’s loss of the WWE United States Championship to Logan Paul at Crown Jewel. Fellow LWO member Carlito placed the blame on Escobar for Mysterio’s championship loss. Today, Mysterio shared on social media that he has undergone successful knee surgery in Birmingham. It appears that this surgery may have been the reason behind the attack on Mysterio and his temporary absence from television.

Haus of Wrestling reports that Rey Mysterio is currently dealing with a torn meniscus injury. He has been working on this for a few months now, but things didn’t get better for him. Now, he is out of action for around six to eight weeks.

Haus of Wrestling has learned that Mysterio has been working through a torn meniscus for about three months. The injury has slowly worsened, so he agreed to lose the WWE United States Championship to Paul and participate in the beatdown angle before heading off for his knee operation. He is expected to be out of action for around six to eight weeks while he recovers and will likely resume his feud with Escobar when he returns.

With a successful recovery, Rey Mysterio’s timeline suggests that he could return in time for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40 season. Notably, at WrestleMania 39, Mysterio faced his son Dominik in a singles match, and he won against Dirty Dom.

Since then, the father and son duo have largely pursued separate paths in WWE. Rey Mysterio has been actively involved in elevating the LWO on SmackDown, while Dominik has been working alongside The Judgment Day on Raw. It’s worth noting that Rey also made an appearance in WWE NXT earlier this year when he seconded Dragon Lee in an unsuccessful championship bout against Dominik for the WWE NXT North American Championship.

Only time will tell what is next for Rey Mysterio, but he made it very clear that he is coming back after Santos Escobar when the time comes. Payback may be serious for Mysterio as well.
