RVD Discloses Backstage Conversation with Ric Flair Before AEW Dynamite Debut

RVD is regarded as one of the all-time greats as far as in-ring action and death-defying stunts are concerned. He has been part of AEW for a while now and RVD has disclosed the backstage conversation he had with Ric Flair prior to Flair’s AEW Dynamite debut.

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair made his debut on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, was he was revealed to be Sting’s gift from Tony Khan. Naturally, this was big moment for not only The Nature Boy but for Sting as well.

While speaking on the latest episode of the 1 Of A Kind podcast, RVD stated that he was surprised to see Ric Flair backstage after he came through the curtain following his match on AEW Dynamite. RVD then disclosed the conversation he had with Flair prior to the latter’s Dynamite debut.

“I just said ‘Dude, what are you doing here?’ Van Dam said. “He said ‘Hey, I’m going to work, man.’ We just laughed. I said ‘Do they know you’re here? The crowd?’ He said ‘No, I’m a surprise.’ He was coming out in the next segment. I was like ‘Awesome. That’s f****** cool.'”

“I love Philly, and that’s so awesome that we’re giving them such an awesome show with big things like that. I watched behind the curtain until I could see Philly’s reaction to Ric Flair coming out, because I just thought that was a really cool and unexpected moment.”

 The Nature Boy also signed multi-year deal with Tony Khan’s company. Flair has also expressed skepticism about return to the squared circle in AEW. With Flair now locked into AEW for many years, we’ll have to see whether he will end up becoming one of AEW’s best signings.
