Bryan Danielson is out of action with a broken orbital bone, and the timing of that was awful. He will hopefully make a return to the ring by the end of 2023, but this wait was not in the plans at all.

Although it was first thought that Bryan Danielson was injured in a match with Kazuchika Okada, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was not responsible for that injury. He did, however, break Danielson’s arm at WrestleDream, so the memes were being shared left and right about Okada and Danielson.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that “Bryan Danielson’s injury happened in a freak accident.” The report went on to explain exactly how Bryan Danielson was injured in a match against Andrade el Idolo instead.

This past week, AEW revealed that Bryan Danielson was undergoing surgery for a broken orbital and would miss some time, and that he would be back “later in the year.” This is in line with what Fightful heard, with the hope that Danielson won’t miss a ton of time. The way the injury was sustained was a rarity.

While Danielson sold the injury during the tag team match with Kazuchika Okada, he actually sustained the injury very early in the Andrade match on Collision. Danielson told several that he actually happened on the opening collar and elbow tie up when Danielson caught an errant forearm or elbow. You can actually see him react to it during the match.

We will have to see when Bryan Danielson is able to make a return to the ring. He could have a big end of the year, if he can make it back in time. AEW’s World End pay-per-view will go down on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on Long Island.

Keep checking back with us here at Ringside News for more on this story, and so many more. Bryan Danielson’s time in AEW has certainly been filled with injuries, bumps and bruises, and time off. Hopefully, he can limit that from now on.
