The pro wrestling world is full of crazy stories, and sometimes they break out into mainstream media or other outlets. This time, an old pro wrestling urban legend about Rick Rude has resurfaced, and one of YouTube’s most viral channels has picked up the story.

Whang! is popular YouTuber who tells strange stories from internet history, the kind of tales that you might not want to repeat in front of your mother. His past efforts saw him tackle plenty of 4Chan stories, the Pain Olympics, and so much more. This time Whang! tackled an urban legend surrounding Rick Rude.

This legend about Rick Rude is that he took his own life after having his penis removed. Of course, this is not a story that Dark Side of the Ring has touched yet. Apparently, this old urban legend resurfaced thanks to GUNTHER’s recent Intercontinental Championship record.

That record-breaking moment from GUNTHER caused many fans to share moments of the Honky Tonk Man, the guy who previously held the IC record. Some videos going around about Honky Tonk Man were not too kind, and they demonstrated how distasteful he can be.

One video that resurfaced online showed Honky Tonk Man telling Hannibal TV that Rick Rude’s passing was caused by an incredibly sad, tragic, and NSFW reason.

“He injected Viagra into his d*ck cause he thought he could get an instant hard-on and f*ck a lot of broads, but instead he got an infection and his nuts enlarged to the size of cantaloupes, so they had to cut everything away from it. Then he home and killed himself. What a way to go.”

The Honky Tonk Man’s credibility might be called into question, but another interview with Ken Patera seemed to back up Honky Tonk Man’s story. Patera said that he heard that story from Jim Neidhart. Others, like Bruce Prichard, have gone on record that they have never heard this story.

Whang! explored that Rick Rude story in full detail. There is a lot to unpack here, as the legend of Rick Rude has a new layer added to it. This might be an old pro wrestling urban legend, but now a new generation is hearing it, and only time will tell how it might snowball from here.

Rick Rude was a legend, and we can only hope that this story doesn’t go on to taint the memory of what he did in the ring, or how he revitalized his career near the end of his life. You may check out Whang!’s video below. He put together a comprehensive video as he addressed this wild story with as many sources that he could find.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
